Sister Bay’s first festival of the year on June 9, 2012 heralds
the beginning of Summer and provides an opportunity for everyone to get
outside and enjoy life. Jumpin’ June is a celebration for both the
young and the “young-at-heart”& this year we’re celebrating 100 years of Sister Bay!
Centennial Celebration events start:
Friday, June 8 at 7 p.m. in the Sister Bay Village Hall:
Opening Centennial Celebration Ceremonies
Introduction of Village Trustees and speeches
Tales in Music with Lloyd Michalsen
Historic exhibits/displays
Refreshments with the American Legion
Saturday, June 9:
10 a.m.: Hat decorating for kids in the Village Hall (to wear in the parade)
11:30: Children’s parade (Line up and costume/bike decoration judging in parking lot behind Bhirdo’s Shell station at 11:15) All kids are welcome – bring bikes, trikes, scooters, etc. decorated to show off in the parade! Prizes for the best costume! The Boy Scout Color Guard and the Gibraltar Middle School Band make the parade even more festive. Awarding of parade prizes takes place in Waterfront Park after the parade.
Parade starts at Sunset Dr. and travels on Highway 42 to the Post Office in Waterfront Park – make sure you get a spot early so you don’t miss the parade!
After parade until 1:30 p.m. Kids Games
10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Old Stuff Exhibit on W. Mill Rd.
11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Food Booth – hosted by the Sister Bay Lions
Noon – 2 p.m. Taste of Sister Bay in Village Hall: featuring special lunch treats from area restaurants. Taste of Sister Bay features sample portions from a variety of local restaurants
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Historic Tours on the Trolley
2-4 p.m. Newtonburg Brass Band in Village Park gazebo
Afternoon viewings of Weborg’s fish tug at Marina dock
All day Boat ride tours of harbor available
7-9:30 p.m. Judging of Facial Hair Contest followed by: Polka Man Dale & the Bellows & String Band dance/concert in the Village Hall with refreshments by the American Legion
7:30-9:30 p.m. Bonfire next to the Village Hall. Materials for S’mores will be provided – yum!
Centennial T-Shirts, Caps & Postcards available for sale throughout the weekend
