Bring the kids and “Dig Up a Good Book” at the Texas Reading Club Kickoff on Monday, May 23 at 10:00 a.m. Come sing along with State Musician, Sara Hickman, and celebrate with 220 students from Austin ISD. Sara will invite the children to visit their local public libraries to join the summer reading club. Children will receive a book, along with a poster and bookmark created by award-winning illustrator, Keith Graves. What a great way to get kids excited about reading!
The Texas Reading Club helps create a foundation for academic success by encouraging children to read during the summer. Research shows that children who read during the summer maintain and improve their reading skills and experience less summer learning loss.
The Texas Reading Club Kickoff is sponsored by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, BookSprings, and the Friends of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. It will be on the Texas State Capitol East Lawn, across from the Lorenzo de Zavala Texas State Library and Archives building. We hope to see you there!
