Blood pressure screenings will be provided by The Bridge at Cherry Hill on Thursday, May 19, 10-11:30 a.m., and by New England Ambulance, on Monday, May 23, and Wednesday, May 25, 10 a.m.-noon.
Attorney Joseph Proietta from Rhode Island Legal Services and Melody Rodrigues from the Department of Elderly Affairs will visit SMRAC on Friday, May 20, 1-3 p.m., to offer free, 30-minute legal consultations to senior members. Individuals can use this time to get legal advice on reverse mortgages, estate planning, probate, health care power of attorney, or any other concerns. Register with the receptionist.
Jen Johnson will be at the center on Monday, May 23, 9-11 a.m., to offer chair massages. Each session is $10 for 15 minutes. Make an appointment with the receptionist.
MAS Home Care will give a free presentation,¬?"Try It, You'll Like It," on Monday, May 23, at 10:30 a.m. Participants will be introduced to a variety of unusual fruits and vegetables prepared and au naturel. Pre-register for this class with the receptionist. All participants will receive a complimentary recipe booklet.
A Memorial Day Celebration will be held on Wednesday, May 25, at 11:30 a.m. The Korean War Veterans of Northern Rhode Island will conduct a military Color Guard demonstration in honor of all of the men and women who have served this country with the greatest sacrifice of all. Entertainment by Jim Porcella will begin at 12:15 p.m. Make luncheon reservations in advance.
The SMRAC Book Club will meet on Wednesday, May 25, at 1 p.m. The book to be discussed is "The Boy in Striped Pajamas" by John Boyne. The book to be distributed will be "Still Alice" by Lisa Genova.
The SMRAC Breakfast Club will meet on Thursday, May 26, 10-11 a.m., at Mazey's Restaurant.
National Senior Health and Fitness Day is Wednesday, May 25. On that day, senior adults across the country will participate in local fitness activities. SMRAC will offer a free Nia exercise class at 9:15 a.m. ¬?
