Welcome to the Tualatin River Bird Festival

    May 12-15, 2011

    Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge

Every year hundreds of thousands of birds visit Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge on their journey along the Pacific Flyway, one of the ‘highways in the sky’ extending from the Arctic to South America. In the spring, birds no bigger than a tennis ball fly over 5,000 miles north to nest in the Willamette Valley. Many of these colorful migrants rest, nest, and raise their chicks at Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. Patient human visitors may have the chance to observe, photograph, draw, and paint these colorful birds.
Join the Friends of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge for a 4-day celebration of these amazing avian animals! Over 50 lectures, workshops, walks, tours, and hand-on activities are planned from beginning bird walks to special photography paddles along the Tualatin River. 2011 offers the most extensive variety of activities and we can’t wait to see you there! Many thanks in advance to our volunteers without whom this festival would not be possible. Thank you to our partners for their support in helping the one-day Songbird Festival fledge to the multi-day Tualatin River Bird Festival on its 15th anniversary. We couldn’t do it without you.
