One major innovation is the participation of the Presidential guard to display a special unit of defence forces comprised not only of brave soldiers but specially trained dogs.
This is expected to be an attraction during the grand parade on the 20th of May. While military contingents paraded the ground, military jets crowd the skies.
Another major attraction this day is the reunification monument. The Ministries of Youth Affairs and Culture led a delegation of young Cameroonians to visit the monument that tells the story of Cameroon’s long march to reunification. The monument was constructed in four years; between 1973 and 1977.
A similar rehearsals took place in the Littoral region at the CEMAC square in Douala and in all regional headquarters.
Meantime Governor Faï Yengo Francis presided over the last of a series of preparatory meetings to ensure the success of the event.
